home sweet home...at least for 4 months!

This afternoon, I finally received my housing assignment for St. Andrews - complete with pictures and maps! Sadly, the building is not as aesthetically pleasing as some of the older buildings on campus, but it is certainly well accommodated with various conveniences including laundry, catered dining, and free internet. My room has a bathroom and WC (toilet) connected to it in a suite format. Though I requested a roommate, I was placed in a single. Whether or not that turns out to be a good thing, I guess I will discover once I get there. At the very least, it means that I will be working extra hard to meet people and make new friends!

The Residence Hall is located about a mile and a half from the town centre, right across from the Sports Centre, and about a 20-minute walk from the university buildings where I will probably be the most (e.g. the Music Centre and Philosophy buildings). I also noticed that there is a bike shop in town where I hope to rent a bike to use during my four months there. St. Andrews is a perfect town for biking and walking since it is fairly flat with lots of paths and trails. Additionally, there is an extensive bus system that includes everything from city lines to lines that will take you to the railway station (about 20 minutes away) or all the way to Edinburgh!

My new address will be:
New Hall, Room 4114
North Haugh
St. Andrews Fife KY16 9XW
Scotland

It's hard to believe that only one month from today I will be on my way to my new room in Scotland!
