It's hard to believe it but I am finally in Scotland! In Edinburgh, for now, until Wednesday when we move to St. Andrews. I am incredibly tired since I really did not sleep on the many flights, but I am also really excited.
Between checking in and eating dinner, I got a few people together to go walk around the city with me. It was actually sunny for a while - a rarity in Scotland! - but then turned rainy before we could get back to the hotel. We picked up our pace to beat the storm but then it lessened and we decided to keep exploring. It is all so beautiful: the mountains, the buildings, the cobblestone streets. What a blessing to study in such a lovely country - rain or sun! Tomorrow, Tuesday, we have some free time between orientation sessions to explore Edinburgh again. There are so many historical buildings, great architecture, and cute shopping streets. I can't wait!
And my companions have been lots of fun so far too! There are students from colleges all over the U.S. and we're all studying at St. Andrews this semester. (I thought that some students going to other Scottish universities would be with us but it turns out that their semesters started in January.) Everyone I have met so far has been very friendly and equally excited to be here.
I'm trying to be very diligent about taking pictures even though I know that I look like a total tourist when I do. Ah well. I have a duty to share my visual experiences with all of you and if that means looking a little silly sometimes, so be it. ;)
