a walk along the beach and a cream tea picnic in the cathedral ruins

After the processional, Harks and I went on to the beach at West Sands (Chariots of Fire beach!) to take some more photos since it was such a lovely day. Our intention was to then head back to halls and do some classwork before dinner, but our good intentions were thwarted when our friend Dave texted me to invite us for tea in the cathedral. (The St. Andrews Cathedral is a ruin open to the public between certain hours of the day.) On this particular day, we knew the cathedral would be absolutely lovely so we turned around and headed back into town. Dave arrived shortly after with a wicker hamper full of scones, clotted cream, homemade jam, and tea. We ran across the road to procure some hot water from a friend's house and then proceeded to have a lovely cream tea picnic in the grass until the cathedral attendants kicked us out just before dinnertime. On our way back to hall, Harks and I spotted this adorable dog hanging out the window with his front paws crossed over the window sill. All in all, it was a perfectly spontaneous, unplanned, and unproductive day but oh so wonderful!
