The Kate Kennedy Processional

The weekend after the Easter holidays, my good friend Sarah Harkin and I grabbed our cameras and headed into town to watch the famous Kate Kennedy Processional. This annual event is actually a parade organized by the Kate Kennedy Club (an historic, posh, all-male, philanthropic society at St. Andrews), St. Mary's Divinity School, and a few other university groups. It consists of 130 people dressed as characters from St. Andrews' past who parade up and down the streets of St. Andrews, even re-enacting a few scenes for the spectators. Sarah, known by her friends by several nicknames including Harks, is great with photography, graphic design, film, and other artsy tech things, so she has a particularly good camera and even received a telephoto lens for her birthday the month prior. With all her gear, dark sunglasses, and a stylish jacket, Harks looked especially like a paparazzi that particular afternoon. And between the two of us, we easily snapped hundreds of photos of the parade. The Kate Kennedy Processional is just another of the many reasons why the University of St. Andrews is so incredibly unique and absolutely wonderful...
